Federal Dam Minnesota Cass County Railroad Depot Real Photo Postcard

The Federal Dam station served the small community of Federal Dam, Minnesota, named for the federal dam constructed at the outlet of Leech Lake into the Leech Lake River. This dam, completed around 1902-1903, was a significant engineering project designed to regulate water levels for navigation and flood control. The station was a vital point along the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railway (Soo Line), a prominent railroad connecting the upper Midwest to major markets.
