As was typical for Canadian Olympic ice hockey entries of the era, the team was drawn from a reigning Allan Cup champion, having won the national senior title. At the VIII Winter Olympics, the Dutchmen secured the silver medal, a notable achievement as the United States team unexpectedly claimed the gold on home ice.
