King Vajiravudh, known posthumously as Rama VI, reigned as King of Siam (modern-day Thailand) from 1910 to 1925. Educated in England at Sandhurst and Oxford, his rule continued the modernization efforts initiated by his father, King Chulalongkorn. Vajiravudh introduced significant reforms, including establishing compulsory primary education, creating Chulalongkorn University, and promoting a strong sense of Siamese nationalism through the adoption of surnames and the establishment of paramilitary organizations.
