STATION, referring to the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, historical records confirm the Rock Island did not operate lines to Watertown. The substantial brick structure visible was a key transportation hub for the Milwaukee Road, which was vital for connecting the Upper Midwest's agricultural region to national markets.
