The 101 Ranch Real Wild West Show, initiated by the Miller Brothers (Joe, Zack, and George) of the famed 101 Ranch in Oklahoma, emerged as a prominent rival to Buffalo Bill's Wild West in the early 20th century. Starting around 1908, it showcased a vast array of authentic cowboy skills, equestrian acts, and demonstrations of frontier life, featuring many notable performers including Tom Mix, Will Rogers, and African American rodeo star Bill Pickett, the inventor of bulldogging.
